Rome & Vatican City

Finally got around to uploading the photos we took in Rome earlier this month. For those who are still awake after looking at all the photos in this blog, you may want to check them out at http://photos.yahoo.com/csylwedding in the album titled "Rome". For the rest who have their own life to live, here's a sampler...

Testing our honesty at Bocca della Verita (Mouth of Truth)

Rome was not as bad as we had expected it to be. We heard stories about how it is a difficult place to travel with an infant, but we actually found it alright. This is despite the fact that we did not bring the stroller, so we had to carry Sophie everywhere. The Italians were enamoured by Sophie, so we were stopped often for them to coo and fawn over her.

Greenwich Part III

We returned to Greenwich for the third time to attempt to cover the cluster of buildings designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, and to visit the Royal Observatory where the Prime Meridian line is located. As usual, we walked from our house to Greenwich using the Victorian foot tunnel which runs beneath the Thames river.

We ended spending the afternoon exclusively at the latter site because of the fascinating exhibits (check out the clocks!) and because we wanted to take things easy (actually we were just unfit). Guess there will be a Greenwich Part IV....

Are we in the eastern or western hemisphere? Straddling the Prime Meridian line at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

Swing

Yoke Lim discovered a playground near our place, and Sophie discovered the joy of swinging.

Can't wait

Can't wait to join the big bad world out there...

A queit moment

British Museum

The British Museum is one of London's most visited places, with over 6 million visitors annually. It is a massive repository of treasures (or rather, stolen goods, according to some) from all over the world, including the Rosetta stone, the Elgin marbles, and the Dunhuang documents.

We joined the crowds and Aileen last Saturday but only arrived around 3pm, so we explored only the Ancient Egypt galleries. Surrounded by mummies, artworks and treasures, we wandered around for 1.5 hours before calling it a day.

Fei Mui

The reason why Sophie is a "fei mui"...

Oh hello Mommy! It's a nice day, isn't it? Hmm....what did you say? No, of course I am not reaching for those yummy rock buns that Aunty Aileen Che Che made. I'm just resting my hands on the table, see?

Quick!!! She's not looking....!
